PROGRAMS

ONE ON ONE AOD SUPPORT

INDIVIDUALISED ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUG INTERVENTIONS

We provide one on one drug and alcohol interventions to youth at risk. There can be a lot involved in this work alone as young people usually have multiple needs and risk factors that need to be addressed. For example, a young person may be transient and homeless and need assistance to find stable housing. This work is necessary to provide safety and basic needs so that the young person can then focus on other areas of need like reducing the harms associated with their substance use.

MUSIC PROGRAM

MENTORING THROUGH MUSIC PROGRAMS

We provide a fun and safe space for young people to learn how to create music in a studio setting. We use music as a way to help young people express themselves and be heard. We build positive relationships and mentor young people and provide drug and alcohol support and interventions throughout the process. Young people have experienced lots of great outcomes from participating in this program, such as improved self-esteem and self-confidence, connection and a sense of belonging, improved wellbeing and mental health, reduced substance use, positive peer relationships, and improved decision making.

YOUTH OUTREACH

NIGHT OUTREACH IN LOGAN

Overflow partners with other youth agencies to deliver the ‘Streets After Dark” outreach program.

Streets After Dark is ran weekly from 4pm to 8pm at a central and accessible location in Logan for youth. The aim is to offer a fun, engaging and safe environment  that young people can access regularly, rather than wandering the streets and getting into mischief. Positive role models build connection with the young people who attend and utilise our skills to engage and support young people to make positive choices in their lives. We play games, educate through guest speakers, provide a meal and transport young people to and from the program to ensure they are safe.
